Public Invited to Attend Upcoming Spring Arts Events at LSMSA

Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) has announced its upcoming schedule of open-to-the-public arts events for Spring 2024.

Many of these events serve as end-of-semester summative projects for students in the visual and performing arts. With exceptions such as the annual spring musical, there is typically no charge to attend open-to-the-public arts events at LSMSA. The LSMSA campus is located at 715 University Parkway in Natchitoches.

One of the most-anticipated Spring 2024 arts events is the annual spring musical presented by LSMSA’s Theatre Repertory Company. The Spring 2024 musical, SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical, will take place, Apr. 12-14, in Treen Auditorium. Show times are 7 p.m., Apr. 12 & 13, and 2 p.m. on Apr. 14.  Non-student tickets to the spring musical typically cost around $7 apiece and may be purchased at the door; no advance reservations are required. Treen Auditorium is located on the first floor of the High School Building. The front entrance to the building, which faces University Parkway, provides convenient access to Treen Auditorium.

The LSMSA Dance concert, entitled "Inertia," will be held at 7 p.m., Apr. 18-20, in the CPT Black Box Theater. The CPT (or the Center for Performance and Technology) is located on the west side of the High School Building. The nearest parking spaces to the CPT are available at the Music and Arts Building, which is located directly across University Parkway from Smoothie King and Pizza Hut. Tickets are required in order to attend "Inertia" due to limited seating in the CPT Black Box Theater.

The Chorale & Mixed Ensemble Spring Concert will take place on Sunday, May 5 at 4 p.m. and Monday, May 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the CPT Recital Hall, an outstanding venue for vocal performance that is located in the same space as the CPT Black Box Theater. The final public event on LSMSA’s spring arts calendar is the annual LSMSA Student Art Reception planned for 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 9.

In addition to these larger events, there will be recitals, receptions, and showcases featuring the work of individual student artists. A full events calendar—which includes individual performances as well as larger showcases—is as follows:
