Foundation Support Enhances Commencement Weekend

As students wrap up their final exams and prepare for LSMSA’s 40th Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 18, various groups organize end-of-year functions that encourage students, faculty, and staff to celebrate and spend time together while they can.

These events include the annual Grad Party immediately following Senior Rec, Faculty Staff Appreciation Week (in partnership with the LSMSA Parents’ Council), Senior Banquet, Spring Fling, and more. The LSMSA Foundation also purchases gifts that are left in each student's seat at Commencement. Emily Shumate, Director of Enrollment Management & Institutional Research at LSMSA, said that year-end events hold a special importance to the LSMSA community.

“These traditions are important to our community, and we all value these opportunities to celebrate together at the end of the year,” Shumate said.

Want to see examples of LSMSA Foundation funds in effect on Commencement Weekend? Look no further than the 60-foot-long inflatable obstacle course at Spring Fling, the senior gifts placed on each graduate’s seat at Commencement, and the late-night snacks being enjoyed at the Grad Party.
