Brittany Taraba ('07) - Natchitoches Liaison
Brittany graduated from LSMSA in 2007. She attended Nicholls State University where she earned a BS in Business-Marketing. After a career choice pivot, she earned her MAT in Elementary Education from the University of Louisiana-Monroe and later her Educational Specialist in School Administration from Northwestern State University.
Brittany spent 7 years teaching in Monroe before deciding she needed a big adventure in her life. In 2018, she moved to a remote village in rural Alaska where she spent 5 years teaching and later accepted a position as assistant principal. Those years were filled with learning about a new culture (Yupik Eskimo), trying a variety of Native foods (including whale, seal, walrus, moose, and more), and flying in planes the size of Louisiana trucks! In 2022, she was asked to adopt a baby from a woman where she lived. Brittany adopted her son Lucas and spent a final year in Alaska before deciding to move back to Louisiana to be near family.
Being a teacher and mom to a toddler take up most of her time; however, she enjoys reading, cooking, and planning getaways to one day take with her son. She has served LSMSA previously as the Social Service Weekend co-coordinator for several years. It was those weekends that introduced her to a wider group of alumni friends spanning the school’s history. Brittany looks forward to serving as a connection between the alumni and the school in her position with the Alumni Association.
