LSMSA featured in special statewide TV segment LPB spotlights the state’s tuition-free, award-winning education
LSMSA’s 40-year history of providing the state’s highest achieving high school students with a unique, tuition-free, college-level curriculum taught in a residential environment was recently featured in a special segment by Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB).
LPB’s Karen Leblanc spent an afternoon talking with students, faculty, staff, and administrators to learn about the school’s classes and campus life.
“I’m learning independence – not only in taking harder courses, but also in managing my time,” said Ade Adjignon (’24) of Baton Rouge. “I’m growing as a student, but I’m also growing as a person.”
Ranked a World’s Best Boarding School by Fortune magazine, LSMSA is public high school with a nominal room and board fee to cover housing, meals, and campus activities, and a Foundation whose donors offer assistance for families in need to ensure no eligible student is denied the opportunity to learn.
“The growth that our students experience in their adolescent years is a direct result of being here 24 hours a day in this living/learning environment,” said Dr. Steve Horton, LSMSA’s Executive Director and CEO.
Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) is the preeminent state-supported residential high school with competitive admissions for Louisiana's high-achieving, highly-motivated sophomores, juniors, and seniors. As a public school, there is no tuition to attend, and assistance from the LSMSA Foundation ensures the program is available to all qualifying students regardless of family financial need.
