The semi-annual honor was conferred during the LMTA State Conference at Centenary College of Louisiana on Thursday, Oct. 10.

All regional math teachers are invited to participate. This event is sponsored by the American Institute of Mathematics as well as NSU's Stan Chadick Mathematics Enhancement Fund.

The new work was made possible by the Louisiana Percent for Art Program administered by the Louisiana Office of Cultural Development.

The event, which features panel discussions and Q & A sessions, will be held in-person for the first time since 2019.

Chris Perdue ('95) and Stephanie Perdue ('96) recently visited the LSMSA campus during the 40th anniversary celebration and stopped to watch students playing pool in the LLC Game Room. "We noticed that the pool table needed some love," said Stephanie.

Before regular classes start for the spring semester, Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) students have the opportunity to participate in Special Projects Week. The projects are offered by faculty members outside of the parameters of a typical class structure, and they focus on topics pertaining to careers, areas of interest and practical life skills.         

Happy Winter Eagle Alumni and Friends!

I bet some of you remember some of those cold, rainy days back in the Januarys when you were at LSMSA—particularly the walk between the dorms and the HSB.  I vividly remember the ice storm of January 1988 and driving the bus to the Shreveport Airport via an icy Hwy 1 North to pick up a student who was coming back from a trip.  I also remember how cold Prudhomme was.

Michele Robinson joins us as the new Executive Director for the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts Foundation.

New members of LSMSA's faculty and staff for the 2023-24 school year are Dr. Telba Espinoza-Contreras, Gregory Wascoe, and Dr. Temitope Fadipe.
