Alumni of Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) are invited to return to campus on Saturday, Jan. 25 in order to take part in Homecoming athletics scrimmages against current students. Scrimmages will begin at 10 a.m. at Robert A. Alost Gymnasium on the LSMSA campus.
The purpose of the scrimmages is to provide opportunities for current LSMSA student-athletes to prepare for SLAMT by playing “teams" made up of visiting alumni. SLAMT, an acronym that stands for “Schools of Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Texas,” is an annual athletics competition that pits LSMSA against its “sister schools” for the title of SLAMT Champion. The 32nd annual SLAMT will be held on Saturday, Feb. 8 at LSMSA.
"These scrimmages are a great opportunity for alumni to come back and reconnect with the school by being a part of something that they remember from their time here," Coach Clingerman said. "They have a blast, and it's really fun for me to spend time with our alumni. Almost every great friend I've ever had, I met them on a court or a field somewhere."
In order to participate in the Homecoming scrimmages, alumni should contact Coach Dale Clingerman, Coordinator of Athletics and Recreation at LSMSA, at DClingerman@LSMSA.edu. There is no cost for alumni to participate in the Homecoming scrimmages. The LSMSA Alumni Association (LSMSAAA) will purchase lunch in the Eagle Eatery at noon for any alum who would like to dine with current students.
