LSMSA Seeks Presenters for Connections Weekend 2024, Planned for Sept. 20-21

After an extended hiatus, Connections Weekend will return to LSMSA on September 20-21, 2024.
Connections Weekend offers LSMSA alumni a chance to connect with current students and speak to them about college and career choices. Event organizers at LSMSA are seeking a diverse group of 15 speakers representing different decades, career fields, universities, and life experiences to share their stories during the event. The theme of Connections Weekend 2024 is "The Journey." Any alum who believes that they have an interesting journey to share with LSMSA students is encouraged to submit a proposal before the July 1 deadline.

Thanks to generous funding from the LSMSA Foundation, a travel stipend will be offered to invited speakers in order to offset the cost of attendance.

The ideal Connections Weekend speaker will share how they got to where they are today. What academic and career paths did they take to get there? What obstacles have they overcome? What advice do they have for current LSMSA students? Connections Weekend presentations are an opportunity for speakers to share their lived experiences with current students. LSMSA especially encourages graduates from the last decade to apply, as their experiences will be of particular interest to current students.

Once a proposal has been received and selected for inclusion by event organizers, LSMSA will use speaker-provided information to promote Connections Weekend sessions to students. Participating graduates will be notified no later than Aug. 1 in order to allow time for presenters to make travel arrangements. More details of Connections Weekend 2024, including a complete schedule of events, will be shared as they become available.
